Within three months of your wedding day, you must purchase a marriage license. The cost of the license is $100 and is non-refundable. Only one member of the couple is required to apply for the license in person but must show primary identification for both parties.
Please note, the license does expire after three months, so you must time your purchase accordingly.

On the big day, you will need two witnesses and your wedding Celebrant/Officiant present to legally wed. All parties must sign both the Marriage License and Wedding Registrar.
Your wedding Celebrant/Officiant is responsible for sending the license to Vital Statistics BC and maintaining the Wedding Registrar.
A few weeks after your ceremony, the provincial government will send your wedding certificate to your home address.

Wedding Celebrants are professional, modern-day ceremony officiants.
I received my training through the renowned Celebrant Institute where I studied the art of ritual and ceremony, writing and public speaking.
My work in both print and broadcast journalism has prepared me for Celebrant work. It’s my honor to get to know the couples I marry, writing their love story with humor and meaning, and conducting a ceremony that perfectly reflects who they are.
To legally marry couples in British Columbia, I am also an ordained minister with the Canadian Metaphysical Ministry, a spiritual organization that accentuates the divine, positive aspects of life.
I am registered with BC Vital Statistics, enabling me to legally sign both the Marriage Certificate and the Marriage Registrar.
